Settling In

Mommy is really tired, she's doing her best to adjust to the fact that she has to get up with me 2 or 3 times during the night. So while she's sleeping, I figured I'd give her a break and update this site for her. Especially since I'm getting older (and bigger!) now and am staying awake much longer during the day.

Both Mommy and Daddy seem to be getting much more comfortable with me. They don't seem to panic as much now when I do things. The first time I spit up I thought they were going to bring me to the hospital! But fortunately I don't do that too often, and they now know that spitting up is just something we babies tend to do! Check out these pics of Daddy and me...

I had been sleeping for more than 4 hours that day, and Dr. Berg said I shouldn't sleep more than that if I'm going to learn the difference between night and day. (That's something Mommy REALLY wants me to figure out soon!) So usually when they get me undressed is when I wake up, I hate to be cold! That's what Daddy was trying to do here. But as you can see, it wasn't working too well that day!

Look Mommy, no hands! My Daddy is so cool...

The one thing that I was sad about when I was born was that my Nana, Papa, Auntie Lulu, Andrew and Julia were not here to meet me right away. They were leaving for the airport to go to Disneyworld at the EXACT TIME when Mommy and Daddy were leaving to go to the hospital to have me! (How weird is that? Guess I had bad timing) So after a week they were finally able to come and see me.

Here's me with Nana...she was so excited to see me! She always said she thought she'd never see my daddy have a baby and now she did! I made sure I was wide awake for her visit. She brought me cool presents from Disneyworld - pink Minnie Mouse ears and a crystal picture frame with a fairy Minnie Mouse and my name engraved in it!

Here's me with my Auntie Lulu. I was tired when she got here. But she was still so happy to see me! She's going to babysit me every Wednesday when my Mommy goes back to work, I'm so happy I get to see her EVERY WEEK!!!!

I haven't had as many visitors lately, which is good because I was so tired of meeting people in the beginning! Now Daddy had to go back to work, so that gives me and Mommy time to just chill out and recover from my arrival. Mommy says this is taking much longer than she expected! People keep telling her to nap and take it easy, but Mommy hasn't listened. Good thing she finally figured out everyone is right and is going to do that now! (plus she finally got the house decently cleaned up so it will make it easier for her to relax) Poor Mommy, she's never been in the hospital before, EVER (lucky her, I hope I'm that lucky!) so she's having a hard time dealing with recovering. She doesn't seem to realize that bringing me into the world was a really hard thing to do and she just can't snap back as quickly as she wants to! That and she needs to learn to ASK FOR HELP and not try to do everything by herself.

So here are some pics of me chilling out...hope you all are enjoying my website. I will try to help Mommy keep this site updated as much as possible. Thanks for visiting our site and being interested in how my family and I are doing!

Hey Katrina - Sounds like things are "newborn crazy" there. But Lilly looks GREAT so you must be doing something right. Give yourself a pat on the back for that. Yes, you do need to try and find time to relax. Take advantage of these days where she doesn't need you for entertainment. Believe me, they don't last long. And don't fret about not feeling like yourself again. Molly is 7 months and I am JUST starting to see a resembelance of my old self...but I have a long way to go before I feel/look "normal" again. But like I said, she looks great so you're doing all right:)

Hi Lilly!!! it is great to hear you writing from your own voice. Tell Daddy he's doing a great job. Also tell Mommy that Auntie carey was the one who wrote on her advice card at the shower "Unplug the phone and ignore the housework - let other people cook and clean for you" (or something to that effect) - but you know, we moms try to do it all. i think I finally learned (by #3) that no one is ever going to judge you if there are dirty dishes in the sink or your hair isn't done - actually they are more interested in the baby than you anyway! :) I cannot wait to meet this beautiful gal! Thanks for posting all the new pictures!!
